I just got out of the theater where I saw Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey. It was certainly an experience. I did not see it in 70MM IMAX but I did spring for the best experience at the best theater in my area.
First off, Matt Damon was great. He captured the fun of the character and pulled off all of the various set pieces. Himesh Patel was also another standout.
The story was also so much fun. I really enjoyed every island they visited or scenario they found themselves in. Honestly, I wish the movie were longer, but I understand there are limits to how long a movie can be when projected through an IMAX projector.
The costumes, sets, and effects were all amazing.
I wasn’t too happy with Robert Pattinson nor with Tom Holland. I generally like both of them but they just felt miscast. The fight scene at the end seemed more like John Wick than the tone that the movie had previously.
I’d rank it towards the middle or bottom of Nolan’s filmography simply due to how good previous Nolan movies are.
